BAR HARBOR — With more than 20 teams playing nearly 36 baseball games over the weekend, Tony McKim, president of the Acadian Little League, said that the 13th annual Marty Lyons Classic was a “huge success.”

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Providing instruction in Spanish as well as English, Alan Yussim of Uruguay spent his summer as a sailing instructor for the Mount Desert Island Community Service Center (MDICSC).

MOUNT DESERT — Under sail in the sunshine, area skippers and crew gathered for the annual Seal Harbor Yacht Club Regatta on Aug. 2. The regatta was host to more than 30 participants, with 420, Optimist, and Mercury classes competing in the earlier half of the day, followed by the famed O’Brien Cup race.

BAR HARBOR — Thirteen-year-old Opal Curless of Southwest Harbor will represent Maine as one of the only female soccer players in nearly a decade to be selected from the state for the United States Youth Soccer Region 1 team.

MOUNT DESERT — A diverse fleet of 22 sailboats paraded through Northeast Harbor before the start of the third annual Tom Morris Memorial Regatta pursuit race on July 31.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Eric Clark of Marine Systems has launched Pretty Woman, a new 36-foot fishing vessel owned by Nick Martinez of Orr’s Island.

MOUNT DESERT — Morris Yachts hosted the 7th annual Morris Boat Show at the company’s service yard in Northeast Harbor July 29 to 31.
