BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island Trojan boys and girls claimed the 2013 Hancock County championships in outdoor track and field competition here Thursday.

altELLSWORTH — Wins this week over the George Stevens Academy Eagles and the Sumner Tigers left the Ellsworth Eagles just two points out of Eastern Maine Class B playoff contention with five games to go.

ELLSWORTH — Sophomore Moriah Brown pitched a one-hitter, striking out seven batters, as the Ellsworth Eagles rolled to a 12-0 shutout of the John Bapst Crusaders on Tuesday.

The Bucksport Golden Bucks lost their second game of the season. Since then, they have reeled off eight consecutive wins, upping their record to 9-1 and claiming the top spot in the Eastern Maine Class C baseball standings.

The second-ranked Ellsworth Eagle girls improved their record to 8-1 and moved closer to the undefeated and top-ranked Waterville Purple Panthers with the victory.

altELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Eagle girls and the Mount Desert Island Trojan boys, two of the top teams in Eastern Maine Class B tennis, scored 3-2 wins in an Eagles-Trojans faceoff on Monday.

ORONO — Five boys and three girls from Hancock County teams advanced to the next level in Tuesday’s Region 2 qualifier for Maine’s High School Tennis Singles Championships.
