ELLSWORTH — Courthouse Gallery Fine Art kicks off its 2013 season with two exhibitions opening on Thursday, May 23, and running through June 23.

BROOKLIN and BARCELONA, SPAIN — Dr. Edward “Ned” Barbour Hayes of Brooklin and Barcelona, Spain, a lover of music, the ocean, the outdoors, life, died of a heart attack at the age of 57, Thursday May 9, 2013, in Barcelona.

Kaley Haskell, an Ellsworth resident and 2010 graduate of Ellsworth High School, is among a group of students who will travel to Beijing, China, next month to participate in a global leadership institute.

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Adult Drug Treatment Court held two graduation ceremonies for three participants in May. Amanda Holland graduated on Friday, May 3, and Steven Sullivan and Shawn Poliquin both graduated on Friday, May 17. Ceremonies took place in the Superior Court in Ellsworth, at the conclusion of the regular bimonthly drug court sessions.

altLAMOINE — William Henry Parkinson, often called “Parky” or “Bill” of Lamoine, passed on with love and family at his side in his 87th year of life, May 17, 2013. Bill was born April 29, 1926, in Fall River, Mass., son of William Henry and Ida (Savard) Parkinson.

PENOBSCOT — Kathleen Hope Jones, 80, died peacefully in her sleep on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2013, at her home. She was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Oakfield, daughter of George and Margaret (Pratt) Richards.
