BAR HARBOR — Thelma Elaine Whitney, 101, died Feb. 27, 2012, at a Bar Harbor healthcare facility.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — B. Conley Worcester, Jr., 90, died Feb. 21, 2012 at a Bar Harbor Health care facility. He was born Nov. 28, 1921 in Southwest Harbor, son of Ben C. and Sophie (Ramsdell) Worcester.

PENN VALLEY, Pa. — Wayne L. Worrell, Ph.D., 74, of Penn Valley, Pa., passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Feb. 18, 2012 due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

TRENTON — Hope Dawn Cummings died unexpectedly on Feb. 25, 2012, as the result of an automobile accident.

ELLSWORTH — The Maine Federation of Business and Professional Women is offering five scholarships to be awarded to Maine women through the BPW/Maine Foundation Scholarship Program. Each scholarship provides $1,200 for school expenses.

WALTHAM — Madalyn Avis Jordan, 85, passed at Birch Bay Village, Bar Harbor, Feb. 22, 2012, with her sister, Gloria Johnson at her side. She was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Waltham, the second child of W. Elliott and Marguerite (Bunker) Jordan.

BUCKSPORT — The Maine Lobstermen’s Association (MLA) has scheduled a series of meetings throughout the state to discuss current research findings on interactions between lobster gear and endangered right and other large whales.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Sandra Schoon Lonas, 54, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

BLUE HILL — Gordon Emerson, son of the late Helen (Chapman) and Horton W. Emerson Sr., died Feb. 20, 2012, after a brief illness. Born Sept. 18, 1926, in Blue Hill, he graduated from George Stevens Academy in 1944, and then enlisted in Army Company C, 160th Infantry, stationed in China and the Philippines.
