ELLSWORTH — H. Howard Dunn died unexpectedly Jan. 12, 2013, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. He was the oldest of three sons born March 8, 1932, in Ellsworth, to Butler and Marion Young Dunn.
SEAL HARBOR — Patti Reilly, 56, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. She was born Feb. 9, 1956, in Bellwood, Ill., the daughter of Thomas and Norma (Tablack) Katusic.
BANGOR — Vona M. Billings, 92, passed away peacefully Jan. 10, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Aug. 31, 1920, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.
GAINESVILLE, FLA. and HANCOCK — James Waynn Gilbert, 42, beloved son of Victor L. Day and Ellie Gilbert; brother of Chris, Lorrie (deceased), Terry and Tina, passed away Nov. 11, 2009, due to being hit by a car in Gainesville, Fla. Born April 30, 1967, in Ellsworth at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.
HANCOCK and OCALA, FLA. — Victor L. Day, “Vic,” 68, passed away Dec. 21, 2012, of pancreatic cancer at his home in Hancock, surrounded by his loving wife, Ellie (love of his life, soul mate and best friend); daughters, Terry and Tina; grandsons, Travis, Tyler, Taylor; granddaughters, Teagan and Princess Tessa, the reason why he was going to have chemo to live longer but had a stroke so he couldn’t continue chemo. Born Oct. 26, 1944, in Machias, the son of Mable and Holman Day.
GOULDSBORO — Leslie K. Foss, 80, of Gouldsboro, died unexpectedly Dec. 24, 2012. Leslie was born April 18, 1932, to Kenneth J. Foss and Dorothy G. Foss. Leslie was predeceased by his wife, Leola E. Knowles Foss; and son, Jay L. Foss.
BAR HARBOR — Augusta Marie Johnson Alexander “Johnnie” left this world Sunday, Dec, 30, 2012. Born Sept. 12, 1922, in Hinckley, to Ethel H. and Justin O. Johnson, Johnnie grew up in Maine and spent most of her summers at Hancock Point on ancestral land in a cottage built by her father and brothers. Johnnie married Edwin W. Alexander Dec. 13, 1942, in Waterville, on the evening of his graduation from Colby College, just prior to his departure for the war.
BAR HARBOR — Althea M. Gray, 86, died Jan. 2, 2013, at a Bar Harbor health care facility. She was born May 2, 1926, in Seal Harbor, the daughter of Alton and Nina (Pinkham) Gray.
ORLAND — Millard A. Clement, a gentle soul, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at his home in Orland. He will be greatly missed by his family and the community, both of which he served faithfully. Millard was born March 22, 1924, in Orland on the farm of his parents, Jay and Doris Clement.
