SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Elizabeth Hulbert Marler passed away after a long and courageous battle against Alzheimer’s disease on June 18, 2014, with family by her side. Elizabeth was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa., on Oct. 20, 1925, to the late Richard and Elizabeth McKey.

BERNARD Elwood Herbert Banfill, 103, of Bernard died peacefully among family on June 26, 2014, in Morristown, N.J. Born in Marlborough, Mass., on Dec. 9, 1910, Elwood was the only child of Herbert and Bessie (Cutting) Banfill of Southborough.

Waltham — LaVerne Adelle (Hardison) Griffin, 88, died July 17, 2014, of heart failure at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Waltham, the daughter of Arthur and Elvellyn (Kemp) Hardison.

NOBLEBORO and EAST BOOTHBAYA celebration of life for Flora M. Gray of Nobleboro and East Boothbay, who passed away May 27, 2014, will be held 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. A private graveside service will be held for the family at the Dunbar Cemetery in Nobleboro.

altBLUE HILL — Maynard Eugene Astbury, 89, died peacefully July 17, 2014, at the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 30, 1924, in Blue Hill, the son of Richard L. and Maude (Blaisdell) Astbury.

altSURRYRichard Cushing Gibson, 94, died July 16, 2014, following a stroke. He was born in Cambridge, Mass., on the last day of December 1919, to Ethel Howe Gibson and Alec Cushing Gibson.
