Four young swimmers from the Down East Family YMCA Dolphins were among the award recipients at a recent banquet held by Maine Swimming, the governing body of USA Swimming in Maine.

On Saturday, MDI hosted Bucksport. MDI led off with two runs in the first. MDI junior Tom Paola was the starting pitcher. He struck out the first three pitchers, and allowed no hits in the second.

ELLSWORTH — Nine-year-old Ellie Kane led 14 girls from Springers’ Gymnastics Center with three standout performances at last weekend’s USA Gymnastics Maine State Championships in Waterville.

CASTINE — The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners upped their North Atlantic Conference lacrosse record to 4-0 this week with a 20-5 win over Green Mountain College on Saturday.
