GOULDSBORO — Dallas Burke, 56, of the village of Prospect Harbor was summoned Sept. 9 on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.

The following cases were heard in Fifth District Court, according to official records:

BAR HARBOR — A Hampden man with a history of drug trouble was transported off island and committed to a mental health facility after police spent the night with him at the Mount Desert Island Hospital on Sept. 7.

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at an Orland residence that was reported Sept. 9.

BAR HARBOR — A skateboarder sustained a serious head injury when he crashed his long board on the Eagle Lake Road during the early morning hours on Monday, according to police reports.

BAR HARBOR — A town councilor has withdrawn his request for a tour of the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship after a press inquiry into the matter.

BAR HARBOR — College of the Atlantic will be receiving $1 million from the Partridge Foundation to expand its work in sustainable agriculture. About 75 percent of the funds will go to scholarships for rural Maine and New England students interested in pursuing a focus on sustainable agriculture.

WINTER HARBOR — Winter Harbor is one of the few harbors in the United States where Atlantic bluefin tuna are landed.

ELLSWORTH — Two Shaw’s Supermarket shoppers nearly came to blows in the express checkout line late Monday afternoon after one shopper went through the line with more than the store’s suggested number of 20 items or less, police reported.
