ELLSWORTH — Maine’s wild blueberry crop — a $250 million business in the state — is looking “above average” this year, according to wild blueberry specialist David Yarborough.

“The recent showers and the cooler, drier air have provided for excellent crop quality,” said Yarborough, who works for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.

The final crop figure will be reported in the New England Agricultural Statistics survey to be released in January of 2014.
