Trenton man dies in Surry crash

Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Monday, June 17, 2013 at 10:54 am

SURRY — A Trenton man died early Sunday morning after his car went off the road and struck an embankment and several trees, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Deputy Shane Campbell said Justin Frye, 26, died of “massive trauma” during the crash, which occurred on Route 172.

Frye was traveling west in a 1999 Pontiac and failed to negotiate a curve, Campbell said. The car went straight off the road, hitting a dirt embankment, which caused the car to go airborne. The car struck several trees before coming to rest, the deputy said.

Campbell is the primary investigator. He is being assisted by Deputies Jake Day and Corey Bagley and Chief Deputy Richard Bishop.

Deputy Jeff McFarland is reconstructing the accident.

The Surry Fire Department assisted at the scene.
