Islander to shift day

Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:36 am

BAR HARBOR — The Islander is shifting its time of publication to Thursday mornings beginning with the June 20 issue.

While the paper always has carried a Thursday dateline, it has been available on newsstands late on Wednesday. It now will be available on newsstands by lunchtime on Thursday. In-county subscribers who receive papers by mail can expect their issue on Friday.

Digital subscribers will be able to access the new issue on Thursdays at 11 a.m.

As the paper’s circulation base has continued to grow it has become increasingly difficult to produce and print for Wednesday release.

The change also will give additional time to include breaking news and events happening mid-week in that week’s issue.

Find in-depth coverage of local news in the Mount Desert Islander. Subscribe digitally or in print.
