ELLSWORTH — A woman last seen in Fletchers Landing Township Sunday afternoon was found safe and unharmed Wednesday morning in Ellsworth.

Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service said 56-year-old Janet Rier was found around 7 a.m. Wednesday near Route 179.

Rier is from Lubec but has been staying with her sister in Fletchers Landing since December, according to MacDonald.

Rier had last been seen around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the sister’s residence, and was reported missing Tuesday afternoon.

MacDonald said initial statements from Rier indicate she was “camping in the woods,” but he said wardens are talking with her to get more information.

Wardens remind anyone spending time in the woods to tell someone else where they are going and when they plan to return.
