BAR HARBOR — The number of cruise ship visits here during the 2013 season could set a new record. In a list updated by the town on Feb. 13, a total of 134 visits by a total of 22 different vessels are scheduled.
As in previous seasons, several ships will account for multiple visits including the Massdam, and the Yorktown, a smaller ship that usually ties up to the town pier.
The ships are expected to bring more than 150,000 passengers to the area.
Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 is scheduled to drop anchor in Frenchman Bay two times this year, on Sept. 13 and Oct. 18.
Vessels making their inaugural visit in 2013 include the Marina on May 28 carrying 1250 passengers, the Norwegian Gem on Sept. 18 with 2,394 passengers and the AidaBella on Sept. 27 with 2050 passengers.
Two ships scheduled for this year have passenger capacities in the 3,100 range including the Carribean Princess and the Explorer of the Seas.
The calendar for the 2014 season is also filling up fast with 106 reservations already made.
