ELLSWORTH — An Ellsworth woman and her elderly passenger were both unhurt Monday after the younger woman passed out while driving and her vehicle went off the road.
According to a police report, 62-year-old Jane E. Shea was heading north on Douglas Highway around 11:25 a.m. in a Honda sport utility vehicle when she “passed out due to a medical issue.”
The Honda then went off the right-hand side of the road a short distance from the Lamoine town line and struck some small trees.
Both Shea and her 81-year-old passenger, Virginia Eaton, were wearing seat belts and the responding officer observed that neither of them was injured.
The vehicle sustained minor damage as a result of hitting the trees.
