BAR HARBOR — Town councilors on Tuesday reversed foreclosure proceedings on one of their own after accepting full payment of back taxes.
The town foreclosed on a Hadley Point Road property owned by councilor Peter St. Germain in December due to unpaid 2010 property taxes. The taxes, associated fees and a full year of advance tax payments have now been paid by St. Germain, tax collector Sarah Gilbert reported. Councilors Tuesday agreed to sign a quitclaim deed and release all town liens. St. Germain was recused from the vote.
