MOUNT DESERT — Twenty-three teams and 26 individuals competed in the Lions Club Triathlon Oct. 6. The event consisted of 4.15 miles running, followed by 12.8 miles of biking and 4 miles of canoeing.
Team Penobscot, with Chip Loring, Jeff Hunt, and Jeff Owens, finished first overall with a time of 1:41:22 in the men’s team division. Kurt Lietz, Bob Carroll, and Fred Howland, representing Team 245, finished second overall with a time of 1:41:38.
In the women’s division, Dream Team members Katie Gayne and Alyssa Betts finished first with a time of 2:18:28. Katy Lawson and Kate Worcester Team Lawson Worcester, pulled up second with a time of 2:19:49.
In the mixed division, team Weekend Warriors, with Chris Francis, Mark Ranco, Dale Lolar, and MerrieBeth Bumpu, placed first with a time of 1:46:11. Katie Ricketts and Kevin Ho, as team K2, placed second in the mixed division in 2:17:17.
