ELLSWORTH — The director of Downeast Health Services has announced her departure. Kathie Norwood, executive director of the nonprofit serving Hancock and Washington counties, has accepted a post as chief operating officer at Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems Healthcare Charities.
The Eastern Maine Healthcare System includes seven hospitals, emergency transport companies, home health agencies and long-term care and assisted living facilities. Healthcare Charities is the system’s charitable arm.
Norwood, who has worked at Downeast Health for nine years, said her last day Sept. 27 will be bittersweet.
“This will be a really big change for me and I’m sad and excited,” Norwood said. “It’s a real opportunity for me for professional development.”
