Alumni Soccer Game To Honor Jen Myers

Written by  Hugh Bowden Wednesday, August 08, 2012 at 11:18 am

ELLSWORTH — Players who were coached by Jen Myers in her nearly two decades as girls’ varsity soccer coach at Ellsworth High School will gather for a special alumni soccer game on Monday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. at Del Luce Stadium.

The event is being organized by Cindy Bromley Gallagher and Breeze Gammelin Odeen, both members of the EHS class of 1997 who played for Myers.

“We are planning a final, proper send-off for Coach Myers and we’ve reached out to many of the girls [she] coached in her 19 years at EHS,” said Gallagher, “but we would like to open the event to anyone in the community who would wants to show their support and appreciation for Jen.”

Organizers are hoping to have a happy hour/picnic following the game.

Coaches at EHS serve on a year-to-year basis, and Myers’ coaching career came to an end last month when EHS Principal Renee Thompson elected not to nominate her to the position.
