BAR HARBOR — The town ended fiscal year 2012 in the black, mid-July, results show, and will pack $250,000 of leftover cash into the fund balance rainy day account.

The mild winter, staffing reductions in the planning office and reduced employee health insurance costs contributed to the sunny financial picture, town treasurer Stan Harmon said. Recycling income, buoyed by the high price of metals, also helped add to town coffers, bringing in an amount $60,000 above budget and $39,000 over last year.
