ELLSWORTH — The public is invited to celebrate “Cordie Day” at Birdsacre on Saturday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The annual event focuses on the life and passion of Cordelia J. Stanwood, pioneer ornithologist and photographer, who was born on Aug. 1, 1865.
Visitors can view the Downeast Audubon Society display to learn about the birds that are native to this area. They can also take a walk through the woods to visit sites such as “Queen’s Throne” that were special to Stanwood.
There will also be activities for children, including arts and crafts. Bangor Savings Bank will once again be providing free popcorn throughout the event and there will be a free cookout from noon to 1 p.m.
There will also be live music and the Nature Center/Gift Shop will be open.
For more information on the event, visit www.birdsacre.com.
