BAR HARBOR — A house painter from Massachusetts is facing a drug charge after police were called June 12 to a home on Route 3, in response to a report that two men, one with a gun and the other with a knife, were trying to break in.
The weapons turned out to be painting tools. The painters had been working at the home when a disagreement arose with the homeowner. According to police, they were mistaken as burglars as they returned to pick up their equipment. They entered the home using a key that had been provided by the owner.
One of the men, Eric Abate, 28, of East Boston was arrested on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a scheduled drug.
A report Saturday of people “smoking dope” in back of the former Nakorn Thai restaurant led to charges against a Troy man.
Jeffrey Bruns, 44, was summonsed on a charge of possessing hashish and arrested on an active warrant charging him with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Everyone’s a critic. A Main Street store owner asked police Saturday to have a man playing a musical instrument on the nearby sidewalk move on. The man was not busking, just making music, police said, but he agreed to move to Agamont Park.

Another teen, Charles Rawcliffe, 19, of Hampden, was summonsed Saturday on charges of theft and unauthorized possession of alcohol by a minor after he allegedly stole an 18-pack of beer from the Ugly Duck Bodega. Police also warned Mr. Rawcliffe for criminal trespass and ordered him not to return to the store.
Shlomo Marom, 60, of Hoboken, N.J., was summonsed Monday on a speeding charge.
William Delaittre, 20, of Bar Harbor was arrested Monday on a charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol (OUI).
A man and woman from New York reportedly walked out of a Main Street restaurant Friday without paying a $100 tab. Police were unable to locate the freeloading diners.
Arwen Rahn, 34, of Los Angeles, Calif., was arrested Saturday on a charge of OUI after police stopped her vehicle on Route 3 near the Tarn.

Gretchen Mateson, 21, of Mount Desert was arrested Saturday on a bail violation charge. Police said one of her bail conditions was to possess no alcohol.

Three flat screen televisions are missing from a seasonal residence in Pretty Marsh. The theft, which was reported June 14, is believed to have occurred sometime during the past few months.
The police department’s new Chevrolet pickup sustained minor damage June 13 when Officer Joshua Jordan, 22, of Waltham bumped into a tree while backing out of the driveway of a Seal Harbor home where he had responded to an alarm.
As per the department’s policy, another police department investigated the accident, in this case, the Southwest Harbor Police Department.

A Trenton man who survived a May 27 accident that killed the driver and another passenger was charged June 12 with a motor vehicle violation.
Ali Gray, 20, was summonsed on a charge of unnecessary braking/acceleration and for failure to produce evidence of insurance. Deputies stopped Mr. Gray after the sheriff’s department received a complaint of a vehicle operating in an unsafe manner.
A motorcyclist from Canada and his passenger were treated for minor injuries Friday after their bike collided with a 2007 Chrysler driven by a Lamoine woman.
Eric Desrochers, 46, of Ste. Marcelle, Quebec, reportedly was southbound on Route 3 when the Chrysler, driven by Cheri Willard, 37, turned into the parking lot of the Trenton Marketplace and into the path of Desrochers’ 2003 Harley Davidson.
Mr. Desrochers and his passenger, Denise Hardy, 50, were taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth for treatment of cuts and bruises.
The Harley Davidson is considered a total loss.
According to the report, Ms. Willard was talking on a cell phone when the accident occurred. Charges, deputies said, are pending.
The sheriff’s department responded to another motor vehicle accident in Trenton on Friday.
A 1998 Subaru, driven by Devon Martin, 24, of Ellsworth was northbound on Route 3 when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
Kathleen Pruiner, 54, of Trenton was arrested June 13 on a charge of OUI following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor.
