BAR HARBOR — For first place, 22-year-old Adam Derkacz of Bar Harbor clocked in at 38:54 in the MDI Y Spring 10K Road Race held on June 9 in Bar Harbor. Derkacz placed third overall, out of more than 100 runners. He placed third behind Wes Danforth of Winthrop in second with 37:49 and Joshua Shaffer of Cottage Grove, Wis., in first with a time of 35:40.
Stephen Walen of Bernard placed fourth in 39:54, Bob Carroll of Bar Harbor placed fifth in 40:24, Heather Spurling of Islesford placed sixth in 41:05, Hayden Nottingham of New Zealand placed seventh, Alexandrea Buckley of Bar Harbor placed eighth in 41:17, Gareth Howell of Mount Desert placed ninth in 44:20, and Ross Tremblay of Brookline, Mass., placed tenth in 45:44.
In the one-mile fun run, held in conjunction with the 10K, 14-year-old Patrick Hassan of Virginia placed first, Kate Brenner-Simpson of Sullivan placed second, Eli Hinerfeld of Bar Harbor placed third, Cody Parker of Bar Harbor placed fourth,
Brandon Aponte of Brooklin placed fifth, Ian Brenner-Simpson of Sullivan placed sixth, Addie Beal of Otter Creek placed seventh, Eliza Schleif of Mount Desert placed eighth, Brennan Phillips of Hampden placed ninth, and Caleb Hicks of Franklin placed tenth.
