BLUE HILL — Peninsula Peace & Justice will screen an Irish documentary “THE PIPE, Small Village, Big Oil,” on Friday June 29, at 7 p.m. at the Blue Hill Public Library.
Set in a small, remote fishing village on Broadhaven Bay, the film tells the story of the clash of cultures when Shell Oil moves in to construct the Corrib Gas Pipeline, which the local citizens believe will endanger their fishing grounds and farmlands. Shell Oil’s plan is met with defiant resistance as the villagers attempt to save their livelihood.
