BREWER — Hermon’s Abby Burgess allowed just two hits as she pitched the second-seeded Hermon Hawks to an 8-2 win over the number seven Ellsworth Eagles in Class B quarterfinal action at Coffin Field in Brewer Thursday.
Cristin Wright spoiled the shutout bid by Burgess with a two-run single in the fifth inning, and Sam McGuire also singled for the Eagles, who finished their season with a record of 11-6.
Gabby Bryant had a good day at the plate for Hermon, driving in three runs with a double and a single.
Sami Schultz also doubled and singled to drive in two runs, Shaniah Haskell doubled twice and Shannon Graves slammed a two-run triple for the Hawks.
