BRUNSWICK — Maureen M. Laurence passed on June 7, 2012, at The Garden in Brunswick. Born Dec. 30, 1930, in Concord, N.H., the daughter of A. Murray Maynes and Lena Drapeau Maynes and was raised in Woodstock, Vt.
Maureen graduated Woodstock High School in 1948 and Bishop DeGosbriand School of Nursing in Burlington, Vt., and began a long and enjoyable career in nursing. During those years, she raised six children and continued her devoted career helping others and indulged in her passions for gardening, sailing and family.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph; her son, Michael and Tracy Laurence; her daughters, Dianne and Rick Hubbard of Castleton, Vt., Deborah and George Spear of Woodstock, Vt., Susan and Ed Harrison of Bedford, Wyo., Karen and Ron Crist of Collinsville, Texas, and Judy and Don Harrison of Tuscon, Ariz. She is also survived by her brothers, A. Murray “Bud” Maynes III and Jean of Niota, Tenn., and Thomas Maynes and Sue of Boothbay Harbor. Maureen dearly loved each of her 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial Mass will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 132 McKeen St., Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60601 or www.alz.org in the form of a memorial donation. Arrangements are in care of the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
