10 County Athletes Receive PVC First Team Track Honors

ELLSWORTH — Sophomore Aleta Looker of the Ellsworth Eagles and senior River Plouffe Vogel of the George Stevens Academy Eagles have earned double first team outdoor track honors from the Penobscot Valley Conference.

They were among 10 Hancock County athletes who received PVC first team honors.

Large school girls’ first team selections included Looker in both the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs; sophomore Maggie Painter of the Mount Desert Island Trojans in the 3,200-meter run; and the MDI foursome of sophomores Olivia and Isabel Erickson, Painter and junior Malia Demers in the four-by-800-meter relay.

Boys’ large school first team selections were Ellsworth sophomore Dan Curts in the 3,200-meter run and MDI senior Jayson Burke in the shot put.

GSA’s Vogel earned boys’ small schools first team recognition in both the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs and GSA senior Ben Plohr was a first team selection in the 300-meter hurdles and a second team selection in the 110-meter hurdles.

Senior Liana Arquette of GSA was a small schools first team selection in the shot put.

Following are the other PVC second team all-stars.

Large school boys:

Jack Weeks of Ellsworth, 200-meter dash.

Brandon St. Germain, Maks Grover, Ben Conners and Weeks of Ellsworth, four-by-100-meter relay.

Blake Pattengale, Kody Holmes, Robert Looker and Curts of Ellsworth, four-by-800-meter relay.

Chris Clemens of MDI, triple jump.

Will Richard, Brandon Murphy, Richard Helmke and Clemens of MDI, four-by-400-meter relay.

Large school girls:

Tori Huntley of Ellsworth, javelin.

Isabel Erickson of MDI, 800-meter run.

Nora Hubbell and Caroline Driscoll, both of MDI, 3,200-meter run.

Bailey Burr of MDI, triple jump.

Small school boys:

Taylor Lee of Sumner, 800-meter run.

Baramee Janla, John San Diego, Brandon Wade and Lee of Sumner, four-by-400-meter relay.

Sam Stahnke of GSA, 3,200-meter run.

Small school girls:

Lisa Tapley of Bucksport, high jump.

Taylor Ziegler-Miller of Bucksport, javelin.

Lilly Cousins, Charcy Ye, Hannah Maiden and Joan Liu of GSA, four-by-800-meter relay.
