AUGUSTA — In the State Class C Outdoor Track Championships at Cony High School in Augusta Saturday, the George Stevens Academy Eagles were runners-up in two events.
Senior Ben Plohr placed second with a time of 40.09 seconds, just five-tenths of a second off the winning time, in the 300-meter hurdles.
Plohr also combined with senior River Plouffe Vogel, junior Sam Stahnke and sophomore Philip Shaheen for second place in the four-by-800-meter relay in 8:31.20.
Sacopee Valley was the boys’ team champion with 64.5 points, followed closely by North Yarmouth Academy with 62 and Lisbon with 59.
GSA finished ninth with 24 points and the Sumner Tigers were 29th with 2 points.
Also scoring for the Eagle boys:
Vogel was sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:40.06 and seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:05.61.
Stahnke placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run in 10:15.02.
In the four-by-400-meter relay, the GSA foursome of junior Paul Ferreira, Shaheen, Vogel and Plohr placed fifth in 3:43.31.
The Sumner foursome of freshman Baramee Janla, junior Brandon Wade and seniors John San Diego and Taylor Lee were sixth, just 57-hundredths of a second back, in 3:43.88.
In the girls’ meet, it was Orono the winner with 126.75 points, followed by John Bapst and Traip Academy with 72 each and Lisbon with 59.
The Bucksport Golden Bucks were 15th with 12 points and the GSA Eagles were 18th with 8 points.

Senior Taylor Ziegler-Miller was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 99 feet, 6 inches.
Senior Nelly Winship was fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.64.
Junior Lisa Tapley was fifth in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.
The foursome of seniors Olivia Ekelund, Ingrid Dovland and Winship and sophomore Amber Hall was sixth in the four-by-800-meter relay in 10:52.32.
Scoring for GSA:
The foursome of seniors Amanda Moir and Nicole Bakeman and freshmen Madison Cole and Alice Dillon was fourth in the four-by-800-meter relay in 10:45.13.
Senior Liana Arquette was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 5 inches.
