ELLSWORTH — Tracy’s Karate-JuJitsu of Ellsworth recently held the 92nd Martial Arts Tournament since its beginning back in 1977.

Students from Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, Belfast, Bucksport, Deer Isle, Bangor and Yarmouth dojos, as well as from the Presque Isle area and Canada, all came together at Bucksport High School to compete in hope of winning top honors in their respective divisions.

The competitors ranged in age from 4 to more than 70 years old.

Divisions are determined by belt levels as well as age.

Immediately following the tournament, approximately 25 testing board members, all of whom hold 5th through 10th degree Black Belts, and many other students, gathered at Tracy’s Karate in Ellsworth for Black Belt testing of 13 Black Belts, including three new first degree Black Belts:  Senseis Phil McBride of Bar Harbor, Juli Robbins of Bucksport and Jenna Rice of Yarmouth.

They have all worked out a minimum of five years to earn their Black Belts.

Local winners: Cameron Nevells, Colin Toothaker, Nick Dunn Marquis Jolin, Olivia Winger, Lauryn Noyes, Ebon Cammack, Ellie Cammack, Hunter Dorr, Colby Hamilton, Matt Shea, Jim Dunn, Sensei Shawn Murphy, grand champion for men’s Black Belt Division ages 17-34, Traci Boddy, grand champion for women’s Black Belt Division and Tom Anderson, grand champion for senior men’s Black Belt Division.
