Grindle Shutsout Cougars

STACYVILLE — The Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners pounded out 17 hits as they romped to an 18-4 win over the Katahdin Cougars in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Joe Condon hammered a home run and a single, Connor Morey doubled and singled twice and Nick Trundy had three singles in the Mariner attack.

Morey pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing seven hits.

In the 10-0 second game win for the Mariners, Sam Grindle pitched six shutout innings and struck out 12 batters.

Hayden Ciomei doubled and singled twice, Condon had another home run and Nathan Davis singled twice for the Mariners.
