“I opened it because there’s nothing like this in the area,” Yurchick said. Otherwise, people have to travel to Bangor or Portland to find formal wear.
Yurchick bought stock from the old Former Elegance shop in Ellsworth, which closed this spring.
Yurchick opened her shop April 20.
The new store has wedding dresses, prom dresses, mother of the bride dresses and bridesmaid dresses.
There are also outfits for ringbearers and flower girls.
The shop also offers tuxedo rentals, shoes and wedding accessories such as attendant gifts and table centerpieces, which Yurchick has made herself.
“I’m just trying to make it so instead of people going out of town they can get what they want right here,” Yurchick said.
Yurchick also plans to offer wedding invitations.
This is Yurchick’s first business. Previously, she had worked as a bookkeeper.
