Mariaville-Otis News of Neighbors

Written by  Bonnie Robinson Monday, May 21, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Ay, caramba! Announcing the Best Ever Chili Dinner event hosted by the What's for Suppa? Food Pantry and the Mariaville Grange, on Saturday, May 19, at 6 p.m. In addition to chili there will be salad, rolls and pies.

Proceeds will be used to purchase an “on demand” hot water heater for the Grange. They say it’s the best darned chili east of the Rio Grande and west of the Union River. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Hope to see you then at the Mariaville Grange Hall.

Thank you to Ilene Moore of Otis, who called to report that she saw her first hummingbird on the afternoon of May 9. I am proud to say that for the first time ever, in my small circle of competitors, I beat friends in Stetson to the first sighting. Mine was on the morning of May 7, theirs in the evening. In a world with so many uncertainties, isn’t it nice to have the comfort of something so predictable?
