ELLSWORTH — Claris H. Richardson, wife of the late Burnham G. Richardson Jr., passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, with family by her side. She was born Dec. 24, 1930, to Earl A. and Avis (Hooper) Leighton.
She lived most of her life in Bar Harbor with her grandmother, Effie Hooper, after the death of her mother. On Dec. 24, 1947, Claris married Burnham G. Richardson Jr. and spent 35 happy years with him until his death Nov. 14, 1982. Claris lived for taking care of her large family and those that she cherished. Playing bingo was a passion and she loved yard sales. She will be sadly missed by her loving family; she will always be with us in our hearts. Your loving family, Tony and wife, Sandy, David and wife, Brenda, Dianne, Earl and wife, Kathy and all the grandchildren, nephews and nieces — We love you dearly.
Claris is survived by her three sons, Anthony Ray and his wife, Sandy, David Andre and his wife, Brenda, and Earl J. and his wife, Kathy; her daughter, Dianne A. Richardson; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Burnham G. Richardson Jr.; son, Nelson Grafton Richardson; parents, Earl A. and Avis Leighton; and grandmother, Effie Hooper.
Viewing will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth. A funeral service will be held at the same location 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
