BLUE HILL — Black Dinah Chocolatiers has opened a shop full of handcrafted chocolate goodness inside Fairwinds Florist on Main Street.
Cullen Schneider, who owns Fairwinds, is going to manage the shop for chocolatiers Kate and Steve Shaffer of Isle au Haut.
Not only are Black Dinah’s chocolates and truffles available, there are also cookies, ice cream and pastries all made by Shaffer.
A grand opening will be held Friday, June 1.
Kate Shaffer said she and her husband had wanted to open a storefront for a while.
“Blue Hill has been an incredible support for our product,” Shaffer said.
She attributes that to the fact that most of the ingredients for the Farm Market collection of chocolates are sourced from Blue Hill Peninsula farmers.
They include Chevre and Nib, which uses chevre from Sunset Acres Farm in Brooksville, and the Blueberry Black Pepper, which has blueberries from Hackmatack Farm in Penobscot.
Schneider was part of the appeal for opening in Blue Hill.
“Cullen is an amazing businesswoman,” Shaffer said. “Her sense of aesthetic is impeccable.”
