ELLSWORTH — A household hazardous waste collection for the greater Ellsworth region is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at Ellsworth High School.
Acceptable materials include (but are not limited to) adhesives and solvents, photo and pool chemicals, unused gasoline, automobile oil, household cleaners, mercury-containing items, rechargeable batteries and electronics.
Residents from sponsoring towns may drop off a limited amount of materials at no cost. To date, sponsoring municipalities include Deer Isle, Ellsworth, Gouldsboro, Mariaville, Sorrento, Sullivan, Trenton, Winter Harbor and the Unorganized Territories of Hancock County.
Members of other communities may drop off materials for a fee.
