Stop leads to Bail Charge

MOUNT DESERT — Police assisted Acadia National Park rangers with a traffic stop Saturday and arrested a Bar Harbor man.

James Bence, 57, was arrested on a charge of violating his bail conditions. According to police, Mr. Bence was on bail from a drunk driving conviction and found to be in possession of a useable amount of marijuana, a violation of his conditions of release.

Police are investigating a burglary reported Saturday at a home in Somesville. Officer Leigh Guildford said the home was entered two days before the burglary was discovered and jewelry taken. There was no sign of forced entry and there is a suspect, the officer said.

Dean Barger, 46, of Mount Desert, was summonsed Monday on charges of operating after suspension and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

A Mount Desert man complained Sunday that he was bitten by a dog while riding his bike in Somesville. Police located the pet owner and advised the person to control the canine.

Southwest Harbor

A Colorado resident who was hiking Saturday on Beech Hill Mountain found a cigarette pack containing a small amount of marijuana and turned it in to police for disposal.

A caller reported May 10 that an acquaintance was driving while under the influence of coffee brandy. Police failed to locate the tipsy driver.

Tremont

A bottle of malt beverage apparently was thrown at the West Tremont Post Office on Saturday, damaging siding on the building.

Bar Harbor

Matthew Cuff, 35, of Bar Harbor, was arrested Saturday on Eden Street on a charge of operating while under the influence and was summonsed on charges of operating without a license and illegal attachment of plates.

Officer Thom Tardiff found a case of Miller High Life beer while downtown Saturday afternoon; the beer was destroyed.

Timothy York, 21, of Medway, was arrested Monday at the Hannaford parking lot on a charge of operating after suspension. Samuel Thomas, 25, of Bangor, was arrested on the same charge Saturday on Route 3.

Nicholas A. Tracy, 23, of Franklin, was arrested Sunday at the head of the island on a warrant for failure to appear.

A Bar Harbor man was warned for use of fireworks at Hadley Point Beach May 11.

Christopher Parfitt, 20, of Ferisburgh, Vt., was summonsed Saturday while on foot downtown on a charge of providing a false name.

A Shannon Way resident complained May 11 that a neighbor’s rooster was crowing daily at 4 a.m.

Trevor T. Fernald, 22, of Bar Harbor, was summonsed May 9 on Pine Street on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

A three-legged dog was reported running loose in the Hannaford parking lot on May 11. A woman on the scene took the dog to Acadia Veterinary Hospital.

Joanna L. Cote, 31, of Skowhegan, was summonsed May 11 on Route 3 on a charge of speeding. Tiara M. Woods, 24, of Sullivan, was summonsed on the same charge May 8.

A man and woman were separated for the night after fighting in a Roberts Square residence May 11.

Vincent N. Moore, 23, of Bar Harbor, was summonsed Saturday on Eden Street on a seatbelt violation. Leslie C. Brewer, III, no listed age, was summonsed Monday on Cottage Street on a seatbelt violation.

Mark T. Airey, 43, was summonsed Tuesday on Route 3 on a charge of speeding.

Police issued 36 warnings for speeding and other traffic violations this week.
