LAMOINE — Richard E. Fennelly Sr., 81, died May 17, 2012, at a Bar Harbor health-care facility. He was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Bar Harbor, the son of Thomas and Clara (Turner) Fennelly Sr.
Richard attended Pemetic High School, Southwest Harbor. He was a Korean War era veteran and a member of the Trenton American Legion, Post No. 207.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Donna Marie (Hopkins); five sons, Mark Dykes and his wife, Nita, Richard Jr., and his wife, Deirdre, Michael and his wife, Diane, Chris and his wife, Theresa, and William, all of Lamoine; one daughter, Vicki Sitton and her husband, Lester, of Lamoine; grandchildren, Brandi Candage, Brynn Kimball, Cassina Kimball, Sarah Fennelly, Katrina Fennelly, Kristi Fennelly, Shawn MacGregor, Jacob Fennelly, Angelique Longstaff, Richard Fennelly III, Nathan Fennelly, Amanda Fennelly, Jill Grindberg, Spencer Dykes; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Everett Jr. and his wife, Winifred, of Bangor, and Andrew Lee of Claremont, N.H. He was predeceased by two sisters, Janet (Fennelly) Gray and Carole (Fennelly) Clark.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at East Lamoine Cemetery, Lamoine. Immediately following the services a reception will be held at the Elks Lodge, 317 High St., Ellsworth. Gifts in Richard’s memory may be made to East Lamoine Cemetery Assoc., 274 Jordan River Road, Lamoine, ME 04605. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
