ELLSWORTH — Longtime Hairbenders employee Tracy Eaton acquired the business Jan. 1.
Eaton, who has worked as a stylist and nail technician at the salon for 16 years, purchased the business from Marilyn Lawson. Lawson will continue working at the salon.
Eaton is a Deer Isle/Stonington native who has been interested in the beauty industry since childhood. She has completed numerous extended educational courses, including attending the Wella Studio in New York to earn Master Colorist Certification. She also had the opportunity to learn from the biochemist that created the Chromastics line of color.
Eaton does not plan any major changes to Hairbenders, which has been in business in Ellsworth for more than 20 years. The new owner wants to continue the salon’s reputation for skilled professionals who maintain a high level of service for their clients by continuously learning and keeping up to date with the latest trends in the beauty industry. Collectively, the stylists have over 190 years of experience. Many started out working with original owner Fran Leyendecker.
Hairbenders will host an open house and grand reopening on Thursday, June 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. Refreshments and door prizes will be offered.
