All County Teams Still in Playoff Hunt

Written by  Hugh Bowden Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 3:12 pm

ELLSWORTH — With a lineup that includes seven freshmen and sophomores, the Bucksport Golden Bucks have played their way to an 8-2 record and third place in the Eastern Maine Class C standings.

All six Hancock County teams are very much in the hunt for spots in the post-season playoffs.

In Class B, the 6-5 Mount Desert Island Trojans are currently ranked sixth and the 5-7 Ellsworth Eagles are 10th among the 13 teams that will qualify.

In Class C, the 6-4 George Stevens Academy Eagles are sixth and the Sumner Tigers, despite a 2-7 record, currently are one spot out of contention in 12th, trailing Madawaska by less than two points.

And in Class D, the 4-4 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners are ranked sixth.
