Eagles Sweep Season Series with Trojans

BAR HARBOR — The Ellsworth girls bested the MDI Trojans for the second time this season, this time nipping a team that was at full strength in a close 3-2 battle on Monday.

MDI took the top two singles matches with Mea Clark downing Ashley Harding 8-0 and Julia Christie besting Ina Maloney 8-4.

But Paige Lewis fought her way to a 9-7 win over Mia Musetti at third singles, and both doubles duos posted wins for the Eagles, Jessica Toothaker and Rachel Ball edging Madeline Cook and Caroline Brown 8-6 and Olivia Mora and Sarah Shelton besting Dylan Stillman and Allie Stanley 8-4.

In boys’, the Ellsworth Eagles remained undefeated at 7-0 and atop the Class B standings as they rolled over the MDI Trojans 5-0.

In singles, it was Tyler Small over Luke Horton 8-0, Dillon Toothaker over Garrett Lee 8-2 and Tyler Beardsley over Ian Sampson 8-4.

At doubles, it was Brandan Albee and Dusitn Murphy over Andrew Dalton and Caleb Cough 8-3 and Alec and Evan Toothaker over Woofie Kaiser and Luke Krebs 8-5.
