ELLSWORTH — Righthander Annika Firestone allowed just two hits and struck out six batters in pitching the Ellsworth Eagles to a 12-2 win over the Sumner Tigers on Monday.
A combination of four walks, two hit batters, two wild pitches and three hits gave the Eagles seven first-inning runs.
Sam McGuire had a bunt single, Emily Berry stroked a two-run single and Nicole Austin slammed a bases-loaded triple for the Eagles in the onslaught.
The Tigers picked up a run in the top of the second when Jennie Daley singled and later scored on a ground out by Emily Leighton.
Ellsworth added a run in the bottom of the inning when Cristin Wright doubled, moved to third on an infield out and scored on a wild pitch.
The Tigers added another run in the top of the fourth when Savana Turner reached base on an error and scored on a Jessica West single.
Ellsworth added four more runs in the fifth inning to close out the scoring.
Berry finished with two singles, driving in four runs, Wright had a single and a double and McGuire singled twice for the Eagles.
