GSA’s Ben Plohr Is Double Winner

CARIBOU — Ben Plohr won two events and was runner-up in a third for the George Stevens Academy Eagle boys in a nine-team outdoor track competition on Saturday.

The Bangor Rams won the boys’ meet with a score of 191, followed by Presque Isle 104, Caribou 97, Penquis Valley 82, Fort Fairfield 53, GSA 33, Bucksport 22, Fort Kent 2 and Limestone 1.

GSA’s Plohr won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.65 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.66 seconds.

Plohr also placed second in the 1,600-meter run in 4:45.74, and combined with Paul Ferreira, Johnson Chen and Philip Shaheen for fourth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 3:55.37.

Also for GSA, Corey An was sixth in the long jump, clearing 17 feet, 10 inches.

For Bucksport, Evan Seekins won the javelin with a throw of 138 feet, 5 inches.

Also scoring for Bucksport:

Paul Fitzgerald was third in the javelin with a throw of 132 feet, 8 inches.

Eric Davis was fourth in the 400-meter dash in 56.63 seconds.

The foursome of Robin Doyle, Jon Geagan, Liam Pitchford and Davis was sixth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:06.98.

Bangor also won the girls’ meet with 230.5 points, followed by Caribou 196.5, Fort Fairfield 38, Washburn 34, Presque Isle 27, GSA 26, Bucksport 20, Fort Kent 14, Penquis Valley 2 and Limestone 1.

Scoring for GSA:

Liana Arquette was second in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, 10 nches and third in the javelin with a throw of 93 feet, 3 inches.

Nicole Bakeman was fourth in the 3,200-meter run in 13:12.90.

Lilly Cousins, Amanda Moir, Madison Cole and Bakeman combined for fifth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:54.33.

Moir, Cole, Alice Dillon and Bakeman placed third in the four-by-800-meter relay in 11:21.38.

Scoring for Bucksport:

Taylor Ziegler-Miller was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 92 feet, 8 inches, and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, .5 inch.

Nelly Winship was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:37.38.

Avalon Langevin was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 29 feet, 10.25 inches.

Ingrid Dovland, Amber Hall, Sam Boothby and Winship combined for fourth in the four-by-800-meter relay in 11:43.41.

Olivia Ekeland joined with Hall, Boothby and Winship for fourth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:53.39.
