ORLAND — Two hikes are planned in the Great Pond Mountain Wildlands the weekend of May 26.
The first hike is a three-hour, seven-mile jaunt over Oak and Flag hills on Saturday, May 26.
Hikers should meet at the Wildlands South Gate at 10 a.m. and plan on a drive to the start of Hillside Trail.
Hikers should bring a lunch, water and bug protection.

A hike to the Dead River shore is scheduled for Sunday, May 27, at 7 a.m.
Plans are to meet at Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery in East Orland to carpool. This two-mile walk is mostly on easy gravel roads, with a steep, grassy section of about three-tenths of a mile down to the water.
Hikers should bring sturdy footwear and a drink/snack. All ages are welcome.
