TREMONT — Town meeting voters here will elect four town officials during secret balloting Monday and consider $4.11 million in municipal and school expenses during the open session on Tuesday.
Polls are open Monday from 1 to 8 p.m. at the town office.
On the ballot are the election of two members of the board of selectmen, a school committee member (See related story on this page) and a high school trustee. Also on the ballot is a nonbinding referendum regarding options for consolidating the K-8 school here with the one in neighboring Southwest Harbor. (See related stories).
The open town meeting begins Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the town office. Voters will consider a $1.79 million municipal budget and a $2.3 million budget for the Tremont Consolidated School.
According to town manager Millard Billings, passage of the total budget would have no significant impact on property taxes. He said any deviation would not be known until a new valuation for the town is compiled.
The proposed municipal budget is $63,302 greater than that approved for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
The proposed administration budget, which includes wages, benefits and operation of the town office, for the upcoming year is $663,986, an increase of $1,651.
