BAR HARBOR — Nearly 50 wooded acres off Norway Drive would be split into 11 house lots under a subdivision plan brought before the planning board May 2.
Land developer Shep Harris’ Park Land subdivision would border vast tracks of conserved land held by Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) and Acadia National Park. The lots would be accessed from a private, half-mile road extending off the end of Bluff Road, which intersects with the west side of Norway Drive near Eagle Lake Road.
The development has been planned by Mr. Harris since last spring, when he sold 500 acres of land to MCHT, to remain in permanent conservation, project representative Jules Opton-Himmel said.
No action on the subdivision proposal was taken by planning board members.
