Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 2:37 pm

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock and Penobscot County Soil and Water Conservation Districts will host a basic energy conservation course on Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Ellsworth City Hall.

The course is a practical guide to solar energy. It includes a handyman’s guide to lowering your energy footprint and saving you money.

The information presented is intended to educate homeowners and farmers who are looking to save some money and help the planet at the same time.

The course covers the construction of both homemade and commercial solar panels, battery banks, solar hot water heaters, solar hot air systems, solar ovens and solar distillation.

The cost of the workshop is $30 per person. Snacks are included, but lunch is not.

Pre-registration is required by May 28 by calling 667-8663 or 990-3676, ext. 3.
