SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Voters here on Tuesday returned Susan Allen and Skip Strong to the elementary school committee, authorized the board of selectmen to borrow up to $696,000 for a new water storage tank and authorized the selectmen to withdraw the town’s membership in Acadia Disposal District.

At the open town meeting Monday night, voters approved a municipal budget for next fiscal year of $3.38 million and an elementary school budget of $3.17 million. Based on current property valuations, the tax rate next year would be $10.89 per $1,000 of valuation, a reduction of 6 cents from the current rate. Most budget items passed with no discussion.

In the contest for two three-year terms on the elementary school committee, Ms. Allen led with 218 votes, and Mr. Strong received 177 votes. Michael Sawyer trailed with 108 votes.
