Rockies Down Athletics

Written by  Fenceviewer Staff Tuesday, May 08, 2012 at 4:34 pm

BAR HARBOR — The Rockies defeated the Athletics 12-7 in Little League Baseball action on Monday.

The Athletics turned a rare triple play in the fourth inning. With a Rockies runner on second and third, Athletics first baseman Nate Ingebritson caught a line drive for the first out. The man on second was running on contact, so Ingebritson threw the ball to Logan Beckwith covering second base for the second out. The Rockies runner on third, Ashton Lozano, had tagged up and was headed home. Beckwith threw a bullet to catcher Stevie Gilbert, who caught the ball just as the sliding Lozano crashed into him. In the collision, Gilbert held onto the ball for the third out.
