BAR HARBOR — A talk about fisheries by Paul Molyneaux called “The Myth of Sustainability: What Healthy Fisheries Really Look Like,” is set for Tuesday, May 8, beginning at 4 p.m. at College of the Atlantic’s McCormick Lecture Hall.
After 25 years as an active participant in the seafood industry, Mr. Molyneaux began writing articles for The New York Times and The Fishermen’s Voice, giving readers an intimate view of the people and issues crucial to the shaping of New England’s fishing industry and culture.
Mr. Molyneaux is the author of two books on fisheries and aquaculture, “The Doryman’s Reflection” and “Swimming in Circles.” Both books combine anecdotes with science, and economics of the seafood industry, both locally and globally. He has worked as a consultant for the United Nations, and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007 that funded a trip around the world looking for solutions to fishery issues. His third book, defining and documenting healthy fisheries and aquaculture, is in the works. Mr. Molyneaux spends time in downeast Maine and Mexico.
