ELLSWORTH — A Penobscot man was arrested after a single-vehicle accident Friday in Castine.
According to Deputy Larry Fickett, Matthew Bailey, 28, was westbound on the Castine Road when he lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet pickup, sending the truck off the road and into a utility pole.
Bailey, who reportedly sustained minor cuts in the accident, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant. The Chevrolet is considered a total loss.
Excessive speed reportedly is the cause of a crash Monday morning in Trenton.
Derek Benson, 20, of Southwest Harbor was driving a 2001 Volkswagen when he failed to negotiate a curve on the Oak Point Road. The vehicle left the road and traveled into a ditch. No injuries were reported.
Possible Sex Crime
The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible sex abuse case in Blue Hill. A resident reported Friday that her juvenile daughter might have been the victim of a sex crime.
Car Window Smashed
A Blue Hill resident reported Monday that someone had thrown a rock through the back window of her vehicle, which was parked in her driveway.
Bail Violation
Dominique Torrey, 18, of Trenton was arrested Monday on a charge of violating her bail conditions.
Thefts
A chainsaw was stolen Monday from a home in Brooklin.
Desirae Reed, 29, of Orland was summoned Saturday on a theft charge after Deputy Rob Morang responded to a shoplifting complaint from a store in Orland.
Car-Deer Collisions
Collisions between vehicles and deer kept deputies busy Sunday.
Teresa Lynch, 69, of Versailles, Ky., struck a deer with her 2012 Volkswagen on Route 15 in Stonington, causing about $3,000 in damage.
Also on Sunday, a 2000 Ford driven by Sandra Hutchinson, 42, of Brooksville sustained $1,500 in damage after hitting a deer Sunday on Route 15 in Little Deer Isle.
Suspended License
Timothy Jones, 20, of Stonington was summoned Friday on a charge of possessing a suspended license following a traffic stop in Blue Hill.
Protection Order Violation
Joel Allen, 25, of Orland was summoned April 25 on a charge of violating a protection order. The summons was issued at the request of the Ellsworth Police Department.
