Familiar Faces Fill Orland Ballot

Written by  Steve Fuller Sunday, May 06, 2012 at 8:40 am

ORLAND — When voters head to the polls next month to select municipal officers, a list of familiar names will greet them.

Four positions will be on the ballot, and incumbents will be running unopposed for three of those.

Selectman Ed Rankin Sr., Assessor Geoff Hauger and David Burgess, one of the town’s two representatives on the Regional School Unit 25 School Board, are each seeking re-election to their respective seats.

Each seat carries a term of three years.

The fourth position is a four-year term on the town’s Fish Committee. Maggie Hanscom opted not to run for re-election, and no one returned nomination papers to be on the ballot.

Voting will take place in the gym of the former Orland Consolidated School (21 School House Road) on Tuesday, June 12, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Town officials said May 1 that the warrant for the Town Meeting has not yet been finalized. A date has not yet been set for that meeting, either, though it will likely be held after June 12, when the school budget will also be voted on.
